The following 5 executive positions are available for Multiplying Equality’s University of Alberta student group for the 2019/2020 academic year. Click here to apply.
Executive members must attend weekly meetings throughout the academic year, and submit a written update regarding their portfolio to the Communications Executive 24 hours prior to each meeting. Executive members are also expected to be present all at major student group events.
Executive members (excluding the Treasurer and Design Intern) will be responsible for forming and managing a committee under their portfolio, that will aid them with their tasks.
You have a keen interest in community social issues, and you can utilize carefully planned logistics to make on-campus events a success.
Foster positive relationships with local organizations and charities, and coordinate monthly volunteer outings for small groups of students
Plan and coordinate on-campus events that empower students to contribute the community in a hands-on capacity
Plan and coordinate outreach events that spread knowledge of the post-secondary education pathway to marginalized communities
Work with the Sponsorship Executive to determine sponsorship requirements for each event
Work with the Treasurer to develop event budgets
Work with the Design Intern to develop concepts and content that expresses the meaning of events in innovate ways
Submit events to BearsDen in a timely manner for funding or booking purposes
Book space for on-campus events with the aid of the communications executive
Form and manage an Events Committee to support this portfolio
If there is no President
Communicate with other organizations and student groups at the University of Alberta to facilitate meaningful collaboration
Represent Multiplying Equality to Student Group Services (SGS) as “Acting President”
Complete SGS President’s Training
You are a master at writing emails and proficient at facilitating contact between multiple parties. You have the drive necessary to keep students engaged throughout the year. You have experience with administrative tasks such as creating agendas, booking rooms, and recording minutes. Experience in team leadership is an asset.
Manage student group registration
Write a monthly newsletter for general members containing updates and upcoming opportunities
Communicate with volunteers regarding involvement in outings or events
Book space for executive meeting and general meetings
Prepare and distribute agendas + record minutes for executive meetings and general meetings, incorporating updates provided by other executive members
Distribute meeting minutes to all executive members for their input, additions, and approval, through the use of an action items list
Work with the Design Intern to develop and format visual content for marketing purposes
Coordinate physical marketing efforts on campus, including the distribution of posters
Form and manage a Communications Committee to support this portfolio and all the tasks needed to be accomplished
You are personable and eager to create relationships with local businesses. Experience managing a financial outreach team is an asset.
Work with the Events Executive to determine sponsorship requirements for each event
Foster positive relationships with local businesses, and communicate the reach and mission of the student group in a mutually beneficial way (including through in-person meetings)
Maintain awareness of sponsorship application processes and timelines for different businesses, and reach out to businesses accordingly
Form and manage a Sponsorship Committee to support this portfolio
You are dependable and organized, ideally with experience in bookkeeping and grant writing.
Work with the Events Executive to develop event budgets
Perform cost analyses after each event
Make deposits and manage student group finances
Approve purchases and provide reimbursements for costs related to student group activities
Research funding opportunities and oversee grant applications for the student group
Provide general support to the Sponsorship Committee
Represent Multiplying Equality to Student Group Services (SGS) as the Treasurer
Complete SGS Treasurer’s Training
You are open-minded, creative, and are proficient with design software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. You are excited about the intersection between art and community, and eager to use your skills for a good cause.
Work with the Events Executive to develop concepts and content that expresses the meaning of events in innovate ways
Work with the Communications Executive to develop and format visual content for marketing purposes
Print physical marketing materials, including posters
Coordinate photography of events + organize media
Work with the Multiplying Equality Design Team to develop visual content for social media and outreach initiatives
Help design apparel and products for Multiplying Equality
